Turi Calafato: Behind a Window Blind

Artist’s Statement:

In our daily life we are detached from our innermost soul, we carry on lives as drones. We keep running all day long without a real purpose, and our daily actions are often done mechanically, like the act of eating, shopping, traveling and working. I decided to try to photograph the loneliness and detachment of people in their daily life. I choose on purpose the window of a big corporation, because a window like that could be seen in almost every city in the world; the seats of this eatery are single, so the act of eating, that usually is a communal act, is reduced to a solitary action(as many other moments of our lives).

These pictures were taken in Japan in November 2013.
