Marjorie Nichols: Summertime Reflected

Artist’s Statement:

Looking for a new project, I discovered that the reflections or the legs of people showed the universality of what we do at the beach. Sometimes this is more evident and delightful when the images are viewed upside down.

Artist’s Bio:

My work is known for silver gelatin, black and white portraits of children and families at their homes and vacation sites.
Occasionally I would do a personal project. This one has been one of the most successful and ongoing. The commissioned portraits and the personal work have now switched places. While a purist with prints from film, my other medium has become iPhoneography, also often collected. For The Fence, however, the format and landscape and story telling of “Summertime Reflected” called out to me.
