Q. Sakamaki: Gaza: Living in Ruins

Artist’s Statement:

This series is to depict an environmental relation between people and their homes in the aftermath of a war, focusing on Gaza where so many residents still live at their destroyed homes, or the compounds, often in dangerous conditions, due to the 2014 summer’s 50-day war between Israel and Hamas.


Artist’s Bio:

New York-based documentary photographer, focusing on deadly conflicts and socio-economic issues worldwide. He has received many international awards, including World Press Photo and Olivier Rebbot of Overseas Press Club. Author of “Tompkins Square Park“. Holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University. Represented by Redux Pictures. Co-founder of Instagram showcase Hikari Creative (@hikari.creative).
